The principal access to the mountain of Montserrat is via the Monastery, which you can easily get to either by public or private transport. You can also access other places but in some cases you have to have private transport. In this case the main alternatives are the Hermitage of La Salut, near the village of Collbató, the Vinya Nova, between the villages of Collbató and Bruc, the Coll de Can Maçana and Santa Cecilia.

Public Transport

From Barcelona there are buses and trains that run regularly.

If you choose the bus, the coach company “Autocars Julià” leave from the Plaça dels Països Catalans, next to the Sants station. If you prefer the train, go to the station under the Plaça d'Espanya and take a “Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat” train to the village of “Monistrol de Montserrat”. From here you have two options for reaching the Monastery, one is by cable- car, the “Aeri de Montserrat”; the other is by rack-train, the “Cremallera de Montserrat” (which has more than 900 free parking spaces at the base station).

Private Transport

You can reach the Monastery by car from the “Coll de Can Massana”, via the BP 1103 road, or from the village of “Monistrol de Montserrat” via the BP 1121. Please note that access by car to the Monastery is subject to a toll charge, money which is used to monitor the parking and general maintenance of the Natural Park.

Other access points already mentioned are: the Hermitage of “La Salut”, the “Vinya Nova”, the” Coll de Can Maçana” and “Santa Cecilia”. You can locate all these places on the map that is available at our website “Regions de Montserrat”.
