Alta Ruta de los Perdidos - Tour del Monte Perdido
The tour to Monte Perdido is to delve into what the Pyrenees still represent. Wild itinerary, physically demanding, great praise of natural beauty, and a massive injection of humility.
Of the more than 400 kilometers long that the Pyrenees have, this is where they are most forceful and impressive.
We will trek along ridges, forests, meadows, and passes formed 65 million years ago and retain their brutal and relentless character for four days.
Do you want more information about it?
The meeting and starting point is the San Nicolás de Bujaruelo, in Huesca.
The five stages are divided as follows:
Day 1 - Meet up at Bujaruelo:
Arrival at San Nicolás de Bujaurelo, where I will welcome you, introduce ourselves, and have an explanatory talk. At this meeting point, I will provide you with a welcome pack, go over the details of the route, mountain conditions, and show you how to use the safety geolocation device that you'll have at your disposal throughout the itinerary. Here you can address any last-minute questions. And from here begins the fantastic adventure that will take us through some of the most spectacular landscapes of the Pyrenees. All of this will be accompanied by a welcome snack.
Day 2 - Bujaruelo - Ref. Goritz.
- 8 hours.
- 15 km.
- +1600/ -750 mts.
From Bujaruelo, we cross the Roman bridge and ascend following the red and white marks indicating the passage of the GR 11 to the Bujaruelo Pass. Here, we follow the sign that leads us to the Roland's Breach Shelter. Once at the Breach, we will descend towards the Descargador Pass through the Sarrios Pass. Here we will encounter the first technical section of the route with chains to assist in progression. There is an alternative path from the same Breach to bypass this section. From the Descargador Pass, we will continue towards the plain to reach the Góriz Shelter.
Day 3 - Goritz - Ref. Pineta (following the Faja de las Olas)
- 7 hours.
- 13 km
- +600 / -1700 mts.
We leave Góriz following the GR 11 markers that gradually ascend to the Upper Góriz Pass. At this point, we leave the GR 11, which descends to the Añisclo Canyon, and we take the cairns heading northeast, leading us along the Faja de las Olas to the Añisclo Pass. Here, we also encounter a section with chains to assist in progression. To bypass this technical section, we can descend to Fuen Blanca and then ascend to the Añisclo Pass. We carefully descend the long and demanding descent from the Añisclo Pass to the Pineta Shelter.
Day 4 - Pineta - Ref. Espuguettes (following Puerto Nuevo de Pineta)
- 8 hours.
- 15 km.
- +1500 / -700 mts
From Pineta, we follow the signage of the National Park towards the Pineta Balcony and Marboré Lake. We continue bordering the lake on its right side towards the Tucarroya Breach and Shelter. We ascend to the breach and from here, descend through a steep channel with many loose rocks, requiring cautious descent. In case of encountering snow, the difficulty increases, necessitating proper use of ice axe and crampons. There is also an alternative route through the New Pineta Pass that bypasses this technical section. Once we descend from the Roland's Breach, we head towards the Horquette d’Alans via an ascending path. Then, we descend to the Espuguettes Shelter where we will enjoy unbeatable views.
Day 5 - Espuguettes - Bujaruelo
- 8 hours.
- 17 km.
- +900 / -1550 mts.
Departure from the Espuguettes Shelter towards Gavarnie. After a steep descent, we will encounter a sign indicating the path to the Gavarnie Circus to the left. We traverse this beautiful forest path that brings us very close to the base of the imposing Circus. From the Hotellerie du Cirque, walk towards Gavarnie along the main track until reaching a bridge that connects to a path on the left leading to the Cabanne de Pouey d’Aspé. We ascend the valley of the same name towards the Cabanne de Soldats and the Port de Boucharo (Bujaruelo Pass). From the pass, take the obvious descent path towards the Bujaruelo Shelter (red and white GR 11 markings).
It is a very physically demanding proposal, so you need to be minimally fit and used to hike on the high mountains and rocky terrain, although not all stages are like this.
You will need to carry a small backpack (35/40 l.) The total weight should not be more than 8 or 10 kilos, including the bottle of water.
Once the reservation has been formalized, we will send a list of mandatory and recommended material, as this will also depend on the time of year we want to do the tour.
We will improve our knowledge about ourselves during this trek through the activity, which goes far beyond hiking. A tour that will surely not leave us indifferent, and that will be etched in our minds as a wonderful memory.
That will depend on the number of attendees. Ask us.
