Montserrat rock climbing Boi Roca at the Elefant
Unmistakable rock formation, easy to recognize, the Boy Roca route follows this Elephant's trunk to the top, with a mandatory difficulty not higher than V (although very runout).
It is said that the third pitch is 6a+... but if it is, it is the hardest 6a+ in the world.
This climbing route could be the most classic multi-pitch route in this area, another must of Montserrat climbs.
I haven't rock climbed for some 25 years, I certainly haven't got a climbing partner any more! My wife and I went to Montserrat on a walking/Via Ferrata holiday. The owner of our apartment, an ex-climber himself, recommended Francesc as a climbing guide. Francesc was punctual, he was waiting for me at the RV, and I was early! His local knowledge was excellent. The weather was changeable, his route selection was spot on! I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 pitch route. We intend to visit the area again, hopefully I will be able to hook with Francesc again, I've got my eye on the "Cavall Bernat" !

I was visiting Barcelona alone and was dying to climb in Montserrat. I hired a guide, Francesc and he was absolutely awesome. Organizing beforehand was super easy and he gave helpful instructions on how and where to meet him. I am an intermediate climber and have only been climbing outdoors for a year so I still get a little nervous. He found a climb that was perfect for my level. We did about 5 pitches and it was such a blast. The scenery is incredibly breath-taking and the rock was super fun to climb (much different from what I was used to in New England). This was one of my favorite travel experiences I have ever had. If I go back to Barcelona, I will definitely try to climb with them again. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a guide in Barcelona! One tip: make sure you are early for the bus. I showed up 5 minutes before the one I wanted to take and it had already left. I had to wait 1/2 hr for the next one which meant less climbing time.
